ST. PAULS — A man who was beaten and robbed in his own yard remains hospitalized and may have to undergo surgery, according to Maj. Howard Branch of the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office.

The victim's name has not been released.

Two teenagers have been arrested and charged.

Aaron Jerome Wise, 17, of 145 Spring Branch Drive, St. Pauls, and Martize Douglas, 18, of 251 Barts Road, St. Pauls, are each accused of robbery with a dangerous weapon, assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, and conspiracy to commit armed robbery, according to Branch.

Each was jailed under a $250,000 bond.

The sheriff’s department couldn’t provide complete details, but the investigation thus far shows the man was working in his yard when a vehicle drove by, turned around and came back toward him. The teens inside the car got out and asked the man for directions, but then attacked him, striking him with an object and stealing his wallet, according to Branch.

The robbery occurred Wednesday morning on Great Marsh Church Road, a couple of miles south of St. Pauls.

The even more sad thing other than the gentleman getting robbed and beaten is the fact that i have lost almost all respect and hope in our judicial system. it is so messed up nowadays that if the old man did have a gun and was able to kill both those cancers to society the law or some crooked prosecutor probably would want to prosecute him for it. they shouldn't prosecute him but reward him for keeping the taxpayers from having to feed these worthless douche bags 3 meals a day for next 20 years or perhaps from hurting someone else.

Agree with the other posters. One day punks like this might just run up on what looks like a defenseless old man or woman and have the privelge of eating some lead. They will if they mess with me in my yard.

OK, let's see who will be the first to step up and claim the award this time. Who knows these punks and will tell us how wonderful they are, how they "was just doin' this to buy their grandmas Ensure" or to buy "baby momma some formula." Come on, entertain me.

I have not been a victim yet and the cost of crime is still high dollar--

gun for me and wife--(1 ea)--$750.00

concealed carry course and background cks---$350.00

ammo---holsters--shoulder strap pocketbook--$220.00

$1320.00 total because of people like this--

victim or not crime is expensive.

Here's a case that calls for a little "RSJ" - "road side justice". The deputies should have just stomped the snot out of the PUKES on the spot. They would have never done such a thing again in thier life.
