To the Editor,
I found the advertisement recently placed by Lumbee Tribal Chairman Paul Brooks a disgrace to the intelligence of the Lumbee people. If anything is was a “childish maneuver to cover one’s butt” against Tribal Council member McDuffie Cummings.
Mr. Cummings served for many years as the town manager for the town of Pembroke and there were some people who didn’t like him. But, he kept good financial accountability for the town and kept the budget balanced. Personally, in speaking to former members of the Lumbee Tribal Council, they tell me it is more like $30 million they are sitting on while they also operate several nonprofits out of the offices of the Lumbee Tribal Government.
While Chairman Brooks is mad at McDuffie Cummings for telling the truth about what is going on, while Speaker Pearlean Revels is mad at the people who are working in the Veterans Office for putting something in the paper about the mold, we all need to remember that the majority of the ones who are raising the stink are all millionaires in their own right and the only time they care about people is when they want something or it is time to vote them back in office because they want that position they feel gives them power. Although it should be noted that less than 20 percent of the thousands of Lumbee tribal members care to vote.
On the subject of the mold in the vets office, I would like to remind everyone of the homes they have sold to tribal members that were never inspected for mold prior to the lease/ownership agreement and the mold got so bad in them that they face up their home for health reasons. The Lumbee tribal housing program will say they lost their home because they could not make the payments. But, I have seen letters from doctors telling the families to move out of these homes for health reasons and the Lumbee Tribe just takes it and puts another family in it for them to get sick.
If you don’t believe in what the current members who are elected are doing, please vote for the other guy.

And homes never inspected...? In order to build a home in any county it must past county inspection..? If a trailer or home.. And speaking of trailers..didn't you get one yourself..why else would you have one right in front of your old home..? We haven't seen any articles in the paper of you complaining about mold??.. I'm not politicking for any one person on here, im on the fence of who's I gonna vote for.. Brooks hasn't had enough time to be judged on what he done at the turtle place, even though he's cleaning up the past 3 chiefs messes and deals. Where the tribal council and tribal judges have went crazy and doing whatever they wanted...goins gave in to them his last year to ensure a return,,swett was all about a deal and looking out for those he wanted, Sharon had no backbone and was a pawn of the council.... So Paul actually came and stood up for the separate sides of government for the tribe..why do you think all the council wants him gone? And then they gonna support Goins..after they hung him out to dry and chastised him when he was chief(yeah that's you, Steve, Pearlene, Louise, Danita)..Pauls fired people out the there, and there are some that need it. I may end up voting for the odd guy from fairnont, just to so neither one gets in there. Brooks is a politishn, but maybe that will work.. At least we know what we got with Brooks..Goins had his time. Yeah goins said he was sorry last week some 3 years later... But i don't want to see another Lewin contract, FBI nvestigation, or shady deals with mobile homes and insurance scandals and DMV, or have someone that leads us, that steps out on his duties as a husband, leads me to think he will step out on the Tribe as a leader......
If you want to know what Cummings found go to the Secretary of States webpage and type in the word "Lumbee." Hey, what can you say "Cummings found the money." If they didn't want him to find it they should have NEVER made him the TREASURER of one of the NONPROFITS!
And why would Vinita even bother to go to the tribal offices? That girl has three college degrees and has been published around the world (including People Magazine (people.com) so WHY would she listen to you? The Lumbee Tribe will never RULE her....go Cookie go!When will they learn "she is not from Robeson County?"
