IEPC to hold
elections
PEMBROKE — The Indian Education Parents Committee will hold elections for Purnell Swett High School on Nov. 5 at 6:30 p.m. in the library.
There is an opening for a parent to serve on the committee made up of parents of American Indian children.
Reading
workshop set
PEMBROKE — A reading workshop will be held on Tuesday at 6 p.m. in the Indian Education Resource Center Gym at 818 W. Third St. in Pembroke.
The workshop, which will be conducted by Heather Kimberly Dian, an assistant professor of Education at The University of North Carolina at Pembroke, is for American Indian parents and students in pre-kindergarten through third grades. Free reading material will be available.
Hudson to
study abroad
LAKE FOREST, Ill. — Mary Hudson of St Pauls, a Lake Forest College student, was accepted into the Lake Forest Paris study abroad program in Paris.
The program includes class sessions at historic Paris sites, a two-credit internship, intensive language study, and an opportunity to live with a host family in France.
