LUMBERTON — Gibson Cancer Center, an affiliate of Southeastern Regional Medical Center, will host a “Free to Breathe” event on Thursday as part of the American Cancer Society’s Great American Smokeout. The event will be held from 9 a.m. to noon at the center, which is located at 1200 Pine Run Drive in Lumberton.

LUMBERTON — Dr. Eric Velazquez, of Southeastern Surgical Center, will host a seminar on a variety of weight loss surgery options, including adjustable gastric band, sleeve gastrectomy, and Roux-en-Y gastric bypass, on Nov. 21 from 6 to 7 p.m. at Southeastern Weight Loss Center, which is located within the Southeastern Health Mall on the campus of Biggs Park Mall in Lumberton.
Dr. Barry Williamson, of Lumberton Surgical Associates, will host a seminar on LAP-BANDTM on Thursday from 6 to 7 p.m., also at the weight loss center.

FAIRMONT — Southeastern Regional Medical Center will hold a community forum on Tuesday to gather information that will be used by its board of trustees to develop a strategic plan.
The meeting will be at the Fairmont-South Robeson Heritage Center located at 207 S. Main St. in Fairmont.
Refreshments will be served and networking opportunities will begin at 6:30 p.m.; the feedback portion of the meeting will begin at 7 p.m. and
end at 8:30 p.m. The format will include small group discussions on local health issues as well as a larger group discussion on the impact
of health in the community and a review of barriers and unique strengths related to improving health.
