There are two new donations to The Empty Stocking Fund that have already pushed its total to $1,275 in just two days.
Leading the way is a generous gift of $500 from Speech Solutions and its owner and president, Allison Harrington.
Dr. D.E. Ward Jr. and his wife Sara have made a $100 gift, which is a Christmas tradition for the good doctor.
Both gifts will be matched with a $25 gift from an anonymous local benefactor that has agreed to match each $10 gift with $25 up to a total of $6,000.
There are 1,781 children ages 1 to 13 from 785 families who have been deemed eligible to benefit from the fund this year, so the need during these difficult times is great.
Donations can be made in person at our office at 2175 N. Roberts Ave. or mailed to us at P.O Box 1028, Lumberton, N.C., 28359. Just make the check payable to The Empty Stocking Fund.
Each day The Robesonian will list the money donated and the contributors. If you wish to remain anonymous, you can do so by being listed as “A friend” or “Anonymous.” Donations can also be made in honor or memory of loved ones. If requested, we will publish photographs with donations of $500 or more. A photograph can be provided, or we will take one.
