LUMBERTON — On Thursday night, people will come together to voice their talents for a good cause.
“I think the performers will blow people out of the water,” said Rebekah Revels Lowry.
Lowry is the executive director of the Robeson County Community College Foundation, which will hold a Christmas Talent Show featuring the Robeson Community College Ensemble Choir on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the college at 5160 Fayetteville Road.
“This show is unique and exciting because it is the first of its nature hosted by the RCC Foundation,” Lowry said.
Tickets are $3 for children 10 and under and seniors older than 65, $5 for adults and free for RCC students with an ID. Proceeds will support the foundation’s efforts and student scholarship opportunities.
“We are featuring artists from Robeson County, but most importantly we are celebrating the creation of the RCC Ensemble Choir,” Lowry said. “I especially am excited about the Sheetrock Drummers from Peterson Elementary because they are using actual Sheetrock buckets as musical instruments.
Sheetrock buckets are used to hold the ingredients for making Sheetrock, and are easily transformed into a drum.
“We also have a trio comprised of a brother and two sisters who have unique blend of tight harmonies that is truly impressive,” Lowry said. “We have a national award winning dancer, a former Teen Miss Lumbee, a national recording artist and Dickens Christmas carolers.”
There will also be performances by the Robeson County Christmas Show performers and American Idol finalist Victoria Huggins.
In addition, Golden Corral will provide complimentary hot chocolate beginning at 6 p.m. in the auditorium’s lobby.
