SOUTHPORT — Alexis Roberson scored 16 points, leading the St. Pauls girls’ basketball team to a 49-37 win at South Brunswick on Friday night.
The Lady Bulldogs (1-2) jumped out to a 15-8 first-quarter lead and never looked back, holding the Lady Cougars to single digits in three of the four quarters.
Tamara Glover and Tia Glover added nine and eight points, respectively. Jasmine Rabon led South Brunswick (0-3) with 16.
Red Springs swept by South View
RED SPRINGS — South View’s Ria’n Holland, who recently signed with Division I Wichita State, poured in 23 points to lead the Tigers over Red Springs, 62-32, on Friday at Red Springs High.
The two teams gritted to a 9-6 tally in South View’s favor in the first quarter before the Tigers (4-0) outscored the Red Devils (1-2) by a 17-4 count in the second.
Quinn Lowery led Red Springs with 13 points, the only Red Devil to reach double figures.
On the girls’ side, Kinyere Bell was too much for the Lady Red Devils.
Bell posted 22 points to lead South View to a 62-24 rout of Red Springs. Much like the boys game, the Lady Tigers (3-1) blew the gates off in the second quarter, outscoring Red Springs 17-2.
Jasmine Murchison had a team-high 12 points for the Red Devils (2-1).
