FAIRMONT — A Maxton man was arrested and charged with cutting power lines in Fairmont early today.

Terry Louis Chavis Jr., 23, of 294 Wild Plum Road, is charged with felony injuring utility wires and fixtures, according to sheriff’s Maj. Howard Branch.

Branch said that three men were seen at about 2:30 a.m. cutting the lines at 132 N. Second St. The men ran when police arrived, but deputies were able to apprehend Chavis, according to Branch.

The men cut two large sections of wiring from the lines owned by Progress Energy, causing a power outage in the Fairmont area, according to Branch. The copper wiring, which was valued at $3,000, was found abandoned in a field.

Chavis is being held at the Robeson County jail on $5,000 bond.

Branch said lawmen are searching for the other two men.

@ PercyKuiton it might be a bad picture but you would have one to if you were accused of a crime you didnt commit... @ Wolfpackdave crack is not the case never has and never will be, and @ bianca772010 like I said no drug use what so ever, all the men in his family age quickly... Yall sit around on your computers commenting on stories that you have no knowledge of.. If you want to ridicule and jump to conclusions look up the real criminal that committed the crime.. Josh Jones.. Instead of looking at a picture.. Get a life!!
