FINAL, boys championship game; West Bladen 68, Lumberton 55

West Bladen pushes lead to 11 with quick 6-0 run. Looks like there will only be one county champ tonight. 45-34 Knights with 30 seconds left in the third quarter.

We're a few seconds away from halftime, approaching hour No. 11 of hoops today. Lumberton down 5.

The deficit remains seven, but Strother just sent Lumberton's student section into a frenzy with a block on a dunk attempt.

Montrae Strother cuts into Pirates deficit with a pair of free throws. Lumberton trails in the second quarter, 21-14.

West Bladen puts together a mini-run in the final minute of the first but trails multi-time champion Lumberton by 12 after the first quarter.

Lumberton's putting on a clinic thus far in the Shootout girls championship game. The Lady Pirates lead 15-3 in the first five minutes and are 3-for-4 from behind the arc.

St. Pauls 50, Dillon 49. FINAL.

Overtime. Game tied at 41. After Dillon tied it with a free throw and stole an inbounds pass, the Wildcats missed a pair at the line that would've won it with 4.1 seconds left.

Two missed free throws and another turnovers makes it a two-point game. Dillon inbounding with 19 seconds left trailing 41-40.

It appears St. Pauls will hold on and win this one, barring a collapse.

Bulldogs and Wildcats are tied at 37 with 3:23 remaining. St. Pauls on a 6-0 run at the moment.

St. Pauls trails by three at the start of the fourth quarter. Gilchrist is playing with four fouls for the Bulldogs.

At intermission, St. Pauls leads Dillon -- who upset Fairmont in Round 1 -- 17-14. That's a correct score.

St. Pauls senior guard Deion Gilchrist, a great shooter, breaks his 0-for-8 dry spell with a driving layup. Bulldogs lead 15-14 with 53.8 seconds left in first half.

The hoop here at UNCP is 10 feet above the floor, like normal. Bulldogs struggling with that right now and have missed several shots close to the rim.

Wildcats score first four points of the second quarter, take 12-9 lead. St. Pauls coach Travis Lemanski angrily calls timeout.

Seems to be a lid on the far basket here at the Jones Center for St. Pauls, but the Bulldogs have managed to tie it at 7 with 2:08 left in the opening quarter.

FINAL, Fairmont 48, Red Springs 39 (girls third place)

Pardon the delay, water break. Fairmont's girls take care of business in third place game and defeat Red Springs, 48-39. Na'Jewell Ingram shares game-high honors of 14 points with Red Springs PG Robyn McPhaul.

South Robeson 61, St. Pauls 39. FINAL. Girls 5th place game.

At the end of three, South Robeson leads 48-26. Quick adds a pair of jumpers to her scoring tally, now has 26.

Lead stretches to 20 in the early going of the third. Lady Mustangs continuing to out-rebound the Lady Bulldogs at the offensive end.

10:20 -- Quick has scored South Robeson's last seven points, now has 17 here in the first half. Lady Mustangs lead 27-10.

10:12 -- At the end of one, Lady Mustangs lead St. Pauls, 17-6.

-- It's chilly here inside the Jones Center as South Robeson and St. Pauls' girls basketball team are about to take the floor for the tournament's fifth-place game. Bulldogs guard Alexis Roberson is coming off a 23-point game Thursday night in a win over Purnell Swett. Freshman Aterria Quick is South Robeson's leading scorer.
