FINAL, boys championship game; West Bladen 68, Lumberton 55

8:46 -- West Bladen pushes lead to 11 with quick 6-0 run. Looks like there will only be one county champ tonight. 45-34 Knights with 30 seconds left in the third quarter.

8:23 -- We're a few seconds away from halftime, approaching hour No. 11 of hoops today. Lumberton down 5.

8:16 -- The deficit remains seven, but Strother just sent Lumberton's student section into a frenzy with a block on a dunk attempt.

8:12 -- Montrae Strother cuts into Pirates deficit with a pair of free throws. Lumberton trails in the second quarter, 21-14.

8:04 -- Really good atmosphere here at UNCP for the boys final, an announced crowd of 1,350. Knights lead Pirates 12-10 in the early going in a high-energy contest.

7:31 -- The boys' title game tips off in 20 minutes, but first, here are this year's all-tournament selections from the girls side: Alexis Roberson, St. Pauls; Aterria Quick, S. Robeson; Colleen Chavis, Swett; Khamale Manning, Dillon; Anasia Evans, Fairmont; Robyn McPhaul, R. Springs; Abby Walters, W. FINAL Championship Girls: Lumberton 59, West Bladen 47

7 -- If 15-point lead stands, Lumberton will hand West Bladen's girls their first loss of the season (6-0).

6:52 -- Eight more minutes of game action before longtime Lumberton coach Danny Graham adds another trophy to his Shootout shrine.

6:43 -- West Bladen pulls to within four with a 7-0 run but McNeil answers with back-to-back triples for the Lady Pirates. Lumberton leads 41-30 with 3:01 left in the third quarter.

6:24 -- 10-minute break for halftime with the Lady Pirates leading 29-18.

6:21 -- Nifty footwork in the paint gets Keanna McNeill to the line. She hits 1-of-2 to give Lumberton a 27-18 lead with 1:22 left first half.

6:15 -- Crowd forming on the home side behind press row in anticipation of the boys final. Could Lumberton take home TWO trophies tonight?

6:10 -- West Bladen puts together a mini-run in the final minute of the first but trails multi-time champion Lumberton by 12 after the first quarter.

6:01 -- Lumberton's putting on a clinic thus far in the Shootout girls championship game. The Lady Pirates lead 15-3 in the first five minutes and are 3-for-4 from behind the arc.

St. Pauls 50, Dillon 49. FINAL.

5:12 -- Overtime. Game tied at 41. After Dillon tied it with a free throw and stole an inbounds pass, the Wildcats missed a pair at the line that would've won it with 4.1 seconds left.

5:08 -- Two missed free throws and another turnovers makes it a two-point game. Dillon inbounding with 19 seconds left trailing 41-40.

5:06 -- It appears St. Pauls will hold on and win this one, barring a collapse.

4:58 -- Bulldogs and Wildcats are tied at 37 with 3:23 remaining. St. Pauls on a 6-0 run at the moment.

4:49 -- St. Pauls trails by three at the start of the fourth quarter. Gilchrist is playing with four fouls for the Bulldogs.

4:38 -- A defensive struggle between both teams turning a bit feisty in the third quarter. Bulldogs ahead by one at 22-21.

4:21 -- At intermission, St. Pauls leads Dillon -- who upset Fairmont in Round 1 -- 17-14. That's a correct score.

4:18 -- St. Pauls senior guard Deion Gilchrist, a great shooter, breaks his 0-for-8 dry spell with a driving layup. Bulldogs lead 15-14 with 53.8 seconds left in first half.

4:13 -- The hoop here at UNCP is 10 feet above the floor, like normal. Bulldogs struggling with that right now and have missed several shots close to the rim.

4:10 -- Wildcats score first four points of the second quarter, take 12-9 lead. St. Pauls coach Travis Lemanski angrily calls timeout.

4:03 -- Seems to be a lid on the far basket here at the Jones Center for St. Pauls, but the Bulldogs have managed to tie it at 7 with 2:08 left in the opening quarter.

4:01 -- Dillon's Breon Page is 3-for-3 from the floor and has seven points early.

3:57 -- Dillon, S.C. leads St. Pauls early in the boys' third-place game 5-3. Both teams opened with 3-pointers from the right wing.

FINAL, Fairmont 48, Red Springs 39 (girls third place)

3:40 -- Pardon the delay, water break. Fairmont's girls take care of business in third place game and defeat Red Springs, 48-39. Na'Jewell Ingram shares game-high honors of 14 points with Red Springs PG Robyn McPhaul.

2:58 -- Tornadoes maintaining a slim lead here in the third.

2:31 -- Fairmont 19, Red Springs 14 at halftime. With a win, Golden Tornadoes equal last year's win total.

2:23 -- Fairmont ahead by six on the strength of six points from its bench.

2:11 -- At the end of the first quarter of the girls' third-place game, Fairmont leads Red Springs 8-6. Both teams nearing double-digit turnovers. Sloppy thus far.

1:59 -- After Red Springs' Roccio Pecina hits a deep 3 from the right wing, Fairmont's Anasia Evans answers back at the other end with a tear-drop. Red Springs leads 5-2 midway through the first quarter.

1:57 -- First-year Red Springs coach Steve Sinclair very vocal thus far. His team ahead by two in the early going.

1:54 -- Don't forget, this game is an early taste of what we'll see in the Three Rivers Conference when both schools return from the Christmas break.

1:46 -- We're a few minutes away from Fairmont (4-4) v. Red Springs (5-4) in the girls third-place game. The Lady Red Devils have looked impressive at times this season. If the Golden Tornadoes win, they will surpass last year's win total before the holiday break.

Fairmont 68, Purnell Swett 54. FINAL (boys fifth-place game). Barfield nets a game-high 22.

1:09 -- Fairmont increases lead to 12. Barfield with a monster effort.

12:59 -- Length of the floor pass from Neal to Barfield for the layup gives Fairmont a nine-point lead. Ensuing inbounds steal from Barfield pushes it to 11 at 58-47.

12:43 -- Hinson converts a long assist from Jarrod Neal into an uncontested layup to give Fairmont a 42-37 lead with 2:34 left in the third.

12:35 -- Barfield leads all scorers with 13 here in the third. Game knotted at 32.

12:19 -- Fairmont pushes ahead 31-28 near the end of the first half. Shemar Barfield filling it up for the Golden Tornadoes.

12:10 -- Good crowd here at UNCP considering it's the fifth-place game. Back-and-forth game thus far between the Rams and Tornadoes.

11:59 -- Delay of game warning against Swett for a water bottle spill near the bench.

11:56 -- The Golden Tornadoes in their road blacks with yellow trim, Rams in white. Fairmont's Shemar Barfield puts one off the window for the game's first bucket. Swett's Mitchell Hill answers with a layup.

11:54 -- Former Robeson County athletic director Ronnie Chavis in the house for the first boys game of the day.

South Robeson 61, St. Pauls 39. FINAL. Girls 5th place game.

11:04 -- Ahlea Dickens with a quick five here in the fourth for the Lady Mustangs.

10:57 -- At the end of three, South Robeson leads 48-26. Quick adds a pair of jumpers to her scoring tally, now has 26.

10:49 -- Lead stretches to 20 in the early going of the third. Lady Mustangs continuing to out-rebound the Lady Bulldogs at the offensive end.

10:31 -- We've reached halftime with South Robeson leading 35-18. Quick has 22 points, eight rebounds and three assists for the Lady Mustangs.

10:24 -- Lady Mustangs hold a commanding advantage on the boards and have forced 12 first-half turnovers. We're three minutes until halftime and South Robeson leads by 20.

10:20 -- Quick has scored South Robeson's last seven points, now has 17 here in the first half. Lady Mustangs lead 27-10.

10:12 -- At the end of one, Lady Mustangs lead St. Pauls, 17-6.

9:50 a.m. -- It's chilly here inside the Jones Center as South Robeson and St. Pauls' girls basketball team are about to take the floor for the tournament's fifth-place game. Bulldogs guard Alexis Roberson is coming off a 23-point game Thursday night in a win over Purnell Swett. Freshman Aterria Quick is South Robeson's leading scorer.
