William Eugene Hedgepeth, 75, of Lumberton, died Dec. 16, 2012, at his home.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Floyd Memorial Chapel in Lumberton, the Rev. Lacy Norris officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Faith Cemetery in Lumberton.

He was born in Robeson County on Sept. 4, 1937, to the late Joe Bennett Hedgepeth and the late Mary Grace Currie Hedgepeth. He previously worked at Birch Tool & Die Maker as a tool and die maker.

Hedgepeth is survived by his wife of fifty one years, Helen Clauss Hedgepeth of the home; two sons, Jeffrey Eugene Hedgepeth and wife Teri of Ridge Manner, Fla., and William Eugene Hedgepeth II of Lumberton; a daughter, Deborah Lea Hedgepeth Schelich and husband Ron of Spring Hill, Tenn.; a brother, Herbert Clifton Hedgepeth of Lumberton; a sister, Jerolyn Hedgepeth Smith of Lumberton; six grandchildren, Ray Schelich, Jeffrey Hedgepeth, Josh Schelich, Ben Hedgepeth, Nick Hedgepeth, Brandi Schelich; and a great-grandchild, Lily Grace Kirby Schelich.

The visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory Inc., 809 E. Fifth St., in Lumberton.
