The sophomore forward penciled in 14 points, 12 rebounds and five blocks to help lead the Fairmont High School boys basketball team to a 67-40 non-conference win over South Brunswick on Thursday night in Southport.
The Golden Tornadoes (8-3) jumped out to a 15-6 lead after the first quarter and kept the pace. Fairmont posted back-to-back 18-point quarters in the second and third quarters before finishing with 16 in the fourth.
Fairmont senior center Luke Hunt joined Hinson, a sophomore forward, in the double-double department with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Shyheim Hines chipped in 10 points.
Dylan Mosely was the high man for South Brunswick with 13 points.
Fairmont takes a break from action over the holidays before returning to the court on Jan. 8 when it hosts Lumberton High School. The Golden Tornadoes edged the Pirates in overtime, 84-80, on Nov. 30.
Ingram, Evans lead Lady Golden Tornadoes
Na’Jewel Ingram and Anasia Evans combined for 41 points to lead the Fairmont girls basketball team to a 67-53 non-conference win over South Brunswick on Thursday night.
Ingram, a sophomore forward, poured in a game-high 21 points while Evans, a senior point guard, followed with 20. Evans added seven steals. Chyna Smith chipped in 14 points.
The Lady Golden Tornadoes (7-4) cemented the win in the fourth quarter when it outscored the Lady Cougars, 19-9.
