ROCKINGHAM — Harold Bronson Brim Sr., 70, of 433 Curtis Drive, died Jan. 20, 2013, at his home.

A service to celebrate the life of Harold Bronson Brim Sr. will be 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church in Rockingham, the Rev. Dr. Jim Nelson officiating. Burial will follow in Eastside Cemetery.

He was born March 8, 1942, in Surry County. He was the son of the late Romney Samuel and Voda Caroline Gammons Brim.

Brim was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, a former Civitan and an accomplished athlete. He held the state high school record for 21 strik outs in a seven inning game and held the state record for the Senior Games 100-yard dash for the last two years. Bronson was also an avid golfer.

Bronson will be fondly remembered as a caring, loving soul who never met a stranger.

Bronson began his career with GMAC Finance and spent the ensuing years in the auto industry. He was part owner of Kountry Nissan and ended his career as a consultant for various dealerships.

He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Bobbie Smith Brim; his sisters; Vernie Watson and Leeronie Easter.

He is survived by his son, Harold Bronson Brim Jr. of the home; four brothers, Gloma Jay Brim and wife Carolyn of Mooresville, Plato Brim, Reavis Brim and Delbert Brim and wife Betty, all of Mount Airy; two sisters, Kornella Martin and husband Donald and Oleeta Chilton, all of Mount Airy; his brothers-in-law, Reggie Smith and wife Brenda, Dwayne Smith and Jerry Smith, all of Lumberton; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Kinnaman and husband Bruce of Morehead City; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. Thursday at the church.
