MAXTON — Lee Bertha Deese, 88, of 212 Old Baker Road, was born Dec. 22, 1924, and departed this life on Jan. 22, 2013, at her home.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Bakers Chapel Baptist Church, the Revs. Lindbergh Chavis and Vance McDonald officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Tommie Deese; her mother, Eliza Johnson Deese; five sisters, Dess, Alberta, Roberta, Delphia and Rosie; and three brothers, Will, Berk and Neal.
Deese is survived by two sons, Tommy Dean Deese (Betty) of Maxton, and Homer Lee Deese of the home; five daughters, Mary Faye Locklear (Lester) of Maxton, Audrey Peck of Painesville, Ohio, Mary Lee Chavis of Lumberton, Deborah A. Jones (Harrison) of Rowland, and Brenda C. Deese of Pembroke; a brother, Earl Deese of Pembroke; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Locklear & Son Funeral Home.
The viewing will be one hour before the services at the church.
