To the Editor,
In response to an article that appeared in your paper on Jan. 26 entitled “Magazine: Robeson tops NC in poverty,” I would like to share my thoughts. In my opinion the three largest industries in Robeson County are the education, poverty and criminal industries.
Follow the money from these three industries and see who is benefiting from them and we may have some answers as to why we are in the shape that we find ourselves. Robeson County has some of the best assets of anyplace on the globe in my opinion. We have industrious people, a beautiful river, two interstate highways, a university, a community college, rich land and some of the most beautiful scenery in the state.
So, what might the problems with our condition be? It could be in the lack of leadership just as we are seeing on the national level. Look at Robeson County to see where this nation will be if we do not make some changes.
