LUMBERTON — A farm-based learning center for children ages 3 through 12 opened recently in East Lumberton.
Wee Farm Learning Center is a sister site of both Cottonwood Pre-Elementary in Lumberton and Riverwood Pre-Elementary in Pembroke. The for-profit center will engage pre-schoolers in a farm-based school readiness program that will expand children’s social and academic skills to better prepare them for kindergarten.
Wee Farm activities include learning how to grow fruits and vegetables in their own gardens and greenhouses, learning how to take turns caring for small farm animals in the pastures at Wee Farms and learning about other farming and agriculture initiatives.
The learning center is located on 4530 N.C. 211 East. Types of childcare provided are full day and half day preschool, before and after school care, school holidays, teacher workdays and full time summer care.
Wee Farm is open from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. To enroll a child, call 910-738-6070; space will be limited due to activities that will take place.
