James McNair
FAYETTEVILLE — James Norwood “RUBBA DADDY” McNair, 72, of Fayetteville, departed this life on Feb. 12, 2013, at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.
A memorial will be 1 p.m. Monday at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, at 918 Piney Grove Road in Lumberton, Bros. William K. Averette and Kenneth A. Haigler officiating.
He was born in Robeson County on Nov. 24, 1940.
He was preceded in death by his father, Norwood Blount; his mother, Lillie Bell McNair Leggett; two sons, Kennard J. Faulk and Michael A. Faulk; two brothers, Nathaniel McNair and Michael Lee Leggett; and a sister, Gloria Ann Leggett Ford.
McNair is survived by his daughter, Yvette Faulk of Takoma Park, Md.; his siblings, Dorothy Bell McNair of Brooklyn, N.Y., William Leggett Jr. of Stoneville, Linda Joyce Leggett Commodore of Brooklyn, N.Y., Brenda Joyce Leggett Haigler of Fayetteville, Mildred Elizabeth Leggett of Lumberton, and Angela Leggett of Fayetteville.
The visitation will follow the service at the home of Mildred Leggett at 196 Nealy Ave., Lumberton, N.C., 28358.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of North Carolina, 1305 Navaho Drive, Suite 101, Raleigh, N.C., 27609.

JADWIN — MO. — Eugene Edwards, 65, of Jadwin, Mo., formerly of Lumberton, N.C., died peacefully on Feb. 10, 2013, after a long fight with cancer.
A private memorial will be held at a later date.
He attended Littlefield High School graduating class of 1966. He went on to play basketball for Shorter College in Rome, Ga.
Gene Edwards honorably served in the U.S. Navy for 20 years. Achieving the rank of Air Traffic Controller Chief, after which he retired to Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elwood and Ella Mae Edwards; and three brothers, Herbert, Woody and Bill Edwards; and a stepson, R.J. Godbey of Cherryville, Mo.
Surviving are his wife, Sherry Edwards; two daughters, Cassie Hambleton of Abu Dhabi, UAE., and Lori Edwards of Plano, Texas; a son, Aaron Edwards of California; his stepson, Justin Godbey of Cherryville, Mo.; 12 grandchildren; three brothers, Jack Edwards of Florence, S.C., Tom Edwards of Rockwell, N.C., and Larry Edwards of Lumberton, N.C.; and two sisters, Shelby Baxley and Mary Ellen Taylor, both of Lumberton, N.C.
