LUMBERTON — A pedestrian was killed after being struck by a vehicle Wednesday night.
April Dawn Seda-Rodriguez, 37, of 316 W. 15th St., Lumberton, was struck at 11:07 p.m. as she was walking down the middle of the southbound lane of Alamac Road, according to the Highway Patrol.
Rolanda Lynn Collins, 49, of 1576 Rice Road, Lumberton, was driving a 2010 Honda passenger south on Alamac Road when the vehicle struck Seda-Rodriguez, swerved off the road to the left and collided with a tree.
Collins and Seda-Rodriguez were taken to Southeastern Regional Medical Center, where Seda-Rodriguez was pronounced dead. Collins was treated and transferred.
According to the Highway Patrol, Collins was driving the posted speed limit of 55 mph. There was no indication that either Collins or Seda-Rodriguez was impaired by drugs or alcohol.

Praying,
Actually this newspaper rarely mentions alcohol or drugs when someone dies who is impaired. That changes if other people die.

I know the driver very well and pray for her recovery. Prayers go out to the family of Seda-Rodriguez.

Good question. We typically don't put that drugs or alcohol were not a factor, but in this instance we did for worry people might presume they were since this woman was in the middle of the road at 11 p.m.

This is indeed a very sad situation for all involved. However, as a reader of this fine paper, I do not understand why you feel the need to publish the home addresses of both parties involved. Could you please enlighten us as to this editorial decision.
