Diane Baker
LUMBERTON — Diane Baker, 59, of Lumberton, entered into eternal peace on Feb. 23, 2013, in Bladen County Hospital in Elizabethtown.
Her home-going celebration will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Great Marsh Baptist Church, Pastors Don Goforth, David Hodge and Lt. Freddy Johnson Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
Diane worked for 28 years as the secretary for the North Carolina Highway Patrol-Troop B in Lumberton, earning the name B7 Queen. She also worked for 9 1/2 years with the North Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles.
She is remembered for her contribution and dedication not only to the Highway Patrol but also to her community, church, family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her son, Walter Bradley Baker, and her sister, Tammy Ruth Hall.
She is survived by her son, William Leonard Baker II (Len) of Raleigh; two brothers, Walter Franklin Hall Jr. of Hot Springs, Ark., and Ricky Lynn Hall of Fuquay-Varina; two sisters, Belinda Hall Locklear of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Sue Thompson of Bladenboro.
I have fought a good fight and I have finished my race.
The visitation for family and friends will be 6 p.m. today at Saint Pauls Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, she requested that donations be made to the St. Pauls Food Bank in St. Pauls, N.C.
