LUMBERTON — Glen Ward, a humorist and inspirational speaker, will speak at Robeson Community College on Friday during a fundraiser for the RCC Foundation.
Ward uses impersonations and jokes with inspirational messages to encourage people to live a better life, according to Rebekah Lowry, executive director of the RCC Foundation.
Ward will speak at 7 p.m. in the A.D Lewis Auditorium. Tickets are $10 for adults, $7 for people 62 and older, and $5 for children and RCC alumni. RCC students will be admitted for free with student ID.
Premium tickets are also available for purchase for $50. They include a dinner in the BB&T room in the Workforce Development Center Building, a meet-and-greet session with Ward and preferred seating.
Ward, who lives in Columbia, S.C., said he has ancestors who are originally from Lumberton. After visiting the campus to explore the RCC environment, Ward said he was impressed.
“It was a very good impression and I really look forward to getting back and actually speaking there,” he said.
The money raised goes toward supporting the RCC Foundation and its work to provide students with scholarships.
“My goal is to entertain in a good and clean way,” Ward said. “My motto is wholesome entrainment with a timely message.”
