Rudy Locklear

Lumberton

Rudy Locklear, 61, of 86 Randy St., Apartment 2, passed into the arms of God on Sept. 8, 2012, at Southeastern Regional Medical Center.

A memorial will be held in his honor at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Tabernacle of Praise and Worship at 4409 Pine Log Road, Lumberton.

Rudy was preceded by his parents, James Marvin Locklear and Allean Maynor Locklear.

He is survived by a son, Michael Shane Locklear; a grandson, Rudy Alan Locklear; a granddaughter, Shanea Fawn Locklear; a great-grandson, Trey Johnson. He is also survived by his brother, Reggie (Sandy) Locklear; three sisters, Sue Locklear and Angie Canipe of Lumberton, and Shirline Bissette of Wendell; an uncle, James C. Maynor; two aunts, Mary Helen Locklear, and Shirley (Ron) Revering, both of Lumberton; a host of family and friends; a very special friend, Lisa Brumley; and two adopted sons, Frankie Locklear and Paul Brindle.

The family and friends will receive friends at 252 Bovine Drive, Lumberton.

Richard Simmons

Rev. Richard B. Simmons, 91, was born on March 26, 1921, to the late Julius Barton Simmons and Ella Dafford Simmons. He died Sept. 9, 2012, at his residence.

The funeral will be conducted at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Cornerstone Freewill Mission Church, the Revs. Jack Murray, James Bullard, and Glenn Vann officiating. Interment will follow in Oxendine Cemetery on Joseph H. Road in Pembroke with full military honors rendered by Robeson County Honor Guard.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Linda Simmons Dowless; five brothers; and six sisters.

Rev. Simmons was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

Surviving are his wife, Magdalene Oxendine Simmons of the home; five daughters, Gloria Norris of Raleigh, Lillie Simmons of Charleston, S.C., Sandra Simmons of Holly Springs, Rachel Ann Simmons, and Eunice Marie Simmons, both of Pembroke; two grandsons, Chad Dowless of Holly Springs and Richard Shane Simmons of Pembroke; a great-granddaughter, Paisley Tutlerow of St. Pauls, Minn.; a sister, Elouise Simmons Brewington of Clinton; and a host of nephews, nieces, and friends.

The family would like to express a special thanks to Inez Rice.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 p.m. Wednesday before the service.

Margaret Alice Duncan, 85, of Bladenboro, died Sept. 8, 2012.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. today at New Light Freewill Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Bladen Memorial Gardens.

Surviving are two daughters, Brenda Griffith and Linda Green; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

William Franklin Kelley, 79, of 1845 Oakland Road, died Sept. 10, 2012, at McLeod Medical Center in Dillon, S.C.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. today in New Bethel Holiness Methodist Church in Fairmont, the Rev. Dewayne Lowery officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Surviving are his wife, Noreda Kelley of the home; two sons, Curtis E. Kelley of Dillon and Elton M. Kelley of Charleston; three brothers, James Kelley of Niceville, Fla., Robert Kelley of Mossey Head, Fla., and Donnie Kelley of Pensacola, Fla.; and three grandchildren.

The visitation will be from 1:30 until 3 p.m. today at the church.
