Mary Lee Strickland Oxendine, 77, of 1825 Old Baker Road, went to be with her Savior on Sept. 21, 2012, following an extended illness.
Oxendine was the daughter of the late Rozier and Sally Jones Strickland. She was a devoted Christian and a faithful member of Harpers Ferry Baptist Church. She was an avid quilter and gardener.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Harpers Ferry Baptist Church. The burial will follow in Harpers Ferry Church Cemetery No. 2.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William D. Oxendine Sr.; a son, William D. Oxendine Jr.; her parents Rozier and Sally Jones Strickland; a stepmother, Alibertha Ransom Strickland; two brothers, Eartle “Beaucum” Strickland and James Carlie “Pinky” Strickland; three sisters, Clara Lee Locklear, Pauline Locklear and Vergie Lee Locklear.
She is survived by her children, Debbie Anne Thompson (Marshall), Pamela Jean Locklear (Delton), Denise Hope Locklear (Michael) and Sibyl Zena Oxendine (Jesse Clark), all of Maxton; a sister, Daphne Light of Lumberton; two brothers, James Winford “Buster” Strickland of Ellensburg, Wash. and Rozier “Junior” Strickland Jr. of Tacoma, Wash.; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and a special cousin and dear friend, Lillian Sampson.
The visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Revels Funeral Home in Pembroke.

La Grange
Louise Biggs Gray, 95, of La Grange, formerly of Robeson County, died Sept. 21, 2012, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
The graveside will be noon Monday at Fairview Cemetery, the Revs. Ray Teague, Dr. Mallie Hinnant and Lloyd Long officiating.
Many knew her as “Lou,”\, “Lulu” and as a child “Sunshine.” She maintained her beautiful smile despite her declining health. Louise was born in Robeson County to the late John Thomas Biggs and Mollie Beverly Biggs. She was wife of the late Adolph Harper Gray Sr. Louise graduated from Meredith College and taught in North Carolina Public Schools for 21 years. She was a member of Alpha Kappa Delta Sorority and a member of Institute United Methodist Church. She enjoyed trips to Swansboro, fishing and church fellowship.
Gray is survived by a son, Paul H. Albritton Jr. and wife Elizabeth of Wilmington; four stepchildren, Adolph Harper Gray Jr. and wife Betsy of La Grange, Betty G. Parker of New Bern, Julia G. Sutton of La Grange and Sara G. Singleton and husband Jimmy of La Grange; three grandchildren, A.H. Gray III and wife Terry, Marcus Lee Gray and wife Virginia and Christina Locklear and husband David; four great-grandchildren, Mary Elizabeth Gray, Jeremy McLawhorn, Kelsey Nelson and Chase Nelson.
In addition to her parents and husband, “Lou” was preceded in death by five siblings, T. Beverly Biggs, H. Franklin Biggs, Dr. J. Irvin Biggs, Carlyle B. Biggs and Elizabeth B. Owens.
She was especially appreciative of the caring and loving staff of Kitty Askins Hospice Center, the weekly visits of Dr. Mallie Hinnant, the devotion of Harper and Betsy Gray, and the visits of Jeremy and Beth that always brightened her day.
The visitation will be from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Monday at Rouse Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Joe Annie Locklear, 64, of 510 Goose Pond Road, died Sept. 20, 2012, at his residence.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Monday at Heritage Funeral Home, the Rev. Adam Ransom officiating. Burial will follow in the family cemetery.
She is survived by her son, Ricky N. Baker of Red Springs; two brothers, James E. Hall of Red Springs and James Milton Hall Jr. of Parkton; three sisters, Vicky Hall, Gail Hall and Diane Hall, all of Parkton; and a grandchild.
The visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Monday at Heritage Funeral Home.
