Daniel Terry Blue Sr., 90, of 2727 Huggins Road, entered into eternity Sept. 24, 2012, at Southeastern Hospice House.
The funeral will be Saturday at 3 p.m. at St. Joseph Miracle Revival Center in Red Springs, the Rev. Clarence Page officiating. Interment will follow in the Panthersford Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
Blue was born on Sept. 17, 1922, in Robeson County to the late John Henry and Luvenia McNeill Blue. He was a retiree of Burlington Industries and took great pride in farming his own land.
A graduate of the Redstone Academy in Lumberton, Blue accepted Christ as the head of his life at a very early age. He became a dedicated, loyal, lifelong member of Panthersford Presbyterian Church. There he remained a faithful and active member, serving as an elder, a deacon, a trustee, treasurer of the men’s club and a Sunday School teacher. He used his leadership skills to assist the church in any way that he could.
Although Blue was the grateful recipient of many honors, awards, and citations during his lifetime, he was so proud two years ago when the Philadelphus Cluster Group held a program and reception, honoring him for his many years of distinguished leadership in, and service to, the community.
Blue was preceded in death by a son, Ronald M. Blue; a son-in-law, Hubert Huling Jr.; seven brothers, Henry, Weldon, Johnny, Albert, William, Archie, and Lonnie Blue; and two sisters, Rebecca Blue McNeill and Lena Blue McDowell.
Cherishing everlasting memories of his love and affection are his devoted wife of 67 years, Allene; three sons, John H. Blue and his wife Vernette of Red Springs, Daniel T. Blue Jr. and his wife Edna Earle of Raleigh; and Herbert Blue of Lumberton; and two daughters, Marilyn Blue Huling of Knightdale and Debra Blue Graham and her husband Joseph of Red Springs; and a sister, Catherine Blue Pearson of Red Springs. Also cherishing everlasting memories of his love and affection are numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends immediately after the interment at Panthersford Presbyterian Church.
The family visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Panthersford Presbyterian Church in Red Springs.
