Lumberton

Belita Norris McCormick, 66, of Lumberton, passed away on Sept. 27, 2012, at her home.

The funeral will be 5 p.m. Sunday at Floyd Memorial Chapel in Lumberton. Burial will follow at Gardens of Faith Cemetery in Lumberton.

She was born in Robeson County on April 17, 1946, to the late Silas and Lila Norris.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband, Jerrall McCormick Sr. and two sisters, Elyse Gorter and Faye Green.

She is survived by her son, Jerrall McCormick Jr. and wife Leslie of Red Springs; a daughter, Renee Gorter and husband Steve of Lumberton; a brother, Tony Norris of Lumberton; a sister, Linda Norris of Shallotte; a special aunt Levonia Norris of Lumberton; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

The visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory and other times at the home of Renee Gorter, 91 Norton Road in Lumberton.

Edith Elizabeth Locklear, 66, of 4801 Foundary County, entered into eternal rest on Sept. 26, 2012, at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

A homegoing celebration will be 3 p.m. Sunday at the Zion Hill Baptist Church, the Revs. Dr. Michael Cummings, Nick McNeill, Roosevelt Scott and Charles Locklear officiating. Entombment will follow in the Locklear family cemetery.

Locklear was born in Robeson County on May 7, 1946, to the Rev. Numer Ree and Elizabeth Smith Morgan.

She was a faithful member of Zion Hill Baptist Church in Rennert, where she was very active in teaching Sunday School, and one of her most prized positions was being part of mission work until her declining health. She was also employed with Black and Decker for more than 30 years.

Locklear was preceded in death by her parents, the Rev. Numer Ree Morgan and Elizabeth Smith Morgan; her stepmother, Lizzie Morgan; her Granny, Martha Jane Morgan; two brothers, the Rev. Delton Morgan and Eartle Morgan; a son, Gerald Morgan.

She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Shelton Locklear Jr. of the home; a daughter, Shellena Locklear Hudson and husband Lamonte of the home; four grandchildren, Cassandra Morgan of Hope Mills, Shalona Erickson of Georgia, and Steven and Eric Morgan, both of Lumberton; five great-grandchildren, Cayden and Triniti Bullard, both of Hope Mills, Madison Erickson of Georgia, and Isaiah Morgan and Jakobi Locklear, both of Lumberton; four sisters, Eunice Locklear of Fayetteville, and Annie Hite, Mildred Lowery, and Phyllis Scott Lowery, all of Lumberton.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Zion Hill Baptist Church in Rennert.

Andrew Zack Britt Jr., 65, of Hamer, died Sept. 27, 2012, in Hamer.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Kannaday Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Raynham Baptist Church Cemetery.

Britt was born Oct. 8, 1946, in Lumberton. He was the son of the late Andrew Zack and Iva Gladys Hayes Britt. He was of the Baptist faith. He was a HVAC mechanical contractor and owned and operated Britt’s Supply Company, Inc for 41 years. He attended Dillon High School. He studied HVAC at Onslow Technical College in Jacksonville and Florence Technical College in Florence, S.C. He also attended U.S.A.F. Academy, Dallas. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp and was a Vietnam War veteran. He had 25 years of perfect attendance when he was a member of the Dillon Rotary Club.

He was predeceased by a brother, Jerry T. Britt.

He is survived by his wife Shirley Proctor Britt of the home; two daughters, Susan Renee Britt of Hamer and Brigitte Britt (Matthew) Huttemeyer of Charleston, S.C.; three sisters, Nell (Jimmy) Bracey of Hamer, Peggy Jo Britt of Dillon, S.C., and Grace Britt of Hamer; a stepmother, Amorite Britt of Hamer; and several nieces and nephews.

The visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Kannaday Funeral Home.

Quincey Lee Hailey, 64, of 407 Mount Moriah Church Road, formerly of Laurel Hill, died Sept. 24, 2012, at home.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at Ellerbee Grove Baptist Church, the Rev. Darell Carter officiating. Burial will follow in Ellerbee Grove Church Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Helen Hailey of Hamlet; six sons, Quincey Hailey of Gibson, David Quick of Florida, Christopher Quick of Raeford, Anthony Johnson of Greensboro, and Reggie McIver and Hercules McIver, both of Laurinburg; three daughters, Stacey Hailey of Washington, Terry McRae of Laurinburg and Robin Covington of Raleigh; two brothers, Wally and Richard Bright of Bennettsville, S.C.; and four sisters, Livadell Quick, Janice Williams and Joycelena Jacobs, all of Bennettsville, and Mary Gordon of Chesterfield, S.C.

James Malloy

James Franklin Malloy, 62, of Warner Robins, formerly of Laurinburg, died Sept. 26, 2012, in Georgia.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at McPhatter Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. Vera York officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Park Cemetery.

Surviving are a mother, Candace Harrington of Laurinburg; four sons, Gerald Malloy of Harrisburg, James Franklin Malloy III of California, and Lawrence and Michael Malloy, both of Warner Robins; a godchild, Allianna Malloy of Warner Robins; two brothers, Robert Malloy of Laurinburg and Gaston Malloy of Rhode Island; two sisters, Dora Campbell of New York and Ida McGill of Laurinburg; and five grandchildren.

The visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at McPhatter Funeral Home.
