The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Revels Funeral Home Chapel Lumberton. Burial will follow in the Sampson family cemetery.

Sampson was born in Robeson County on Feb. 11, 1954, he was the son of the late Dorothy Freeman Sampson.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Shannon Nicole Lowery and a younger sister, Rebecca Sampson.

He is survived by a special companion of 27 years, Danette Jacobs who lived in the home; a loving daughter, Lori Ann Sampson of Pembroke; two proud sons, Paul Sampson Jr. of Pembroke and Matthew Wayne Sampson of Lumberton; two sons of Danette Jacobs, Antonio Dial and Greg Jacobs; three sisters, Minnie Brooks and husband Billy of Lumberton, Virginia Dale Oxendine and husband Gary of Rowland, Debbie Jane Hunt and husband Bradford of Fairmont; a brother, Samuel Sampson and wife Carolyn of Lumberton; 11 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; a host of family and friends including the UNCP staff; and a special friend, Harold Allen of Pembroke.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Revels Funeral Home Lumberton.
