Cheryl Kagey Wood, 51, of Laurinburg, passed away Dec. 18, 2012.

A celebration of life will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Laurinburg Presbyterian Church, Dr. Neal Carter officiating. Reception will follow the service in the Church Fellowship Hall.

Cheryl was born on Feb. 19, 1961. She was the daughter of Dr. Pat Kagey and Patsy Weaver Kagey.

She was a wonderful wife and mother who truly loved spending time with her family and helping others. In addition to her many achievements, Cheryl earned a bachelor’s degree in Nursing and her master’s degree in Counseling. Her professional passion was mental health counseling. She was a licensed professional counselor and licensed clinical addiction specialist. She served as a counselor with the Scotland Family Counseling Center.

Cheryl was a longtime faithful member of the Laurinburg Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed gardening, caring for her dogs and cooking for family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, Gregory “Greg” Wood of the home in Laurinburg; her children, Rebecca Wood of Winston-Salem, Emily Wood of Raleigh, and Caleb Wood of Blacksburg, Va.; her parents, Patsy Kagey of Salem, Va., and Dr. Pat Kagey and wife Barbara of Roanoke, Va.; her sisters, Carol Dorsey of Salem, and Cindy Kagey of Tucoma, Wash.; her father-in-law, William Wood of Ocala, Fla.; her mothers-in-law, Pat Genty of Maumelle, Ariz., and Gert Gamache of Syracuse, N.Y.; her sisters and brother-in-law, Deborah Eisinger of Temecula, Calif., Nick Genty of Benton, Ariz., Coleen Baird of Maumelle and Cindy Smith of Conway, Ariz.

The visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Richard Boles Funeral Service.

The family requests that memorials be made in memory of Cheryl to the Scotland Family Counseling Center, 600 W. Church St., Laurinburg, N.C., 28352.
