MAXTON — Daniel Jacobs, 85, of 282 Revels Road, was born April 11, 1927, in Robeson County to the late John Wesley and Emmie Jacobs and went to be with his Lord and Savior on Jan. 2, 2013, at Scotland Memorial Hospital in Laurinburg.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at the House of Christ Freewill Baptist Church, the Revs. Earnie Hammonds, Dwayne Locklear and Billy Clark officiating. Entombment will follow in the House of Christ Freewill Baptist Church cemetery.

In addition to his parents, Jacobs was preceded in death by his wife, Lena Jacobs; three brothers, Joe Locklear, William Jacobs and John Jacobs; and three sisters, Mary Jerratt, Winnie Locklear and Lizzie Jacobs.

Jacobs was the founder of the House of Christ Freewill Baptist Church in Maxton. He also retired from the Public Schools of Robeson County as a maintenance worker.

Jacobs leaves to cherish his memories two daughters, Martha Lucas and husband Michael, and Sheila Chavis and husband Bender Ray, all of Maxton; four sons, John Wesley Jacobs of Laurinburg, William Lee Jacobs and wife Betty, Jimmy Jacobs and Delmon Ray Jacobs and wife Sandra, all of Maxton; a brother, Erwin Jacobs of Maxton; two sisters, Willie Mae Deese of Maxton and Lucy Jacobs of Pembroke; 18 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

The visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Thompsons Funeral Home Chapel.
