Virgie Oxendine
PEMBROKE — Virgie Maynor Oxendine, 87, of Pembroke, passed away Feb. 10, 2013, at GlenFlora Nursing Home.
A celebration of life memorial will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Revels Funeral Home Chapel in Lumberton, the Rev. William Griffin officiating. Burial will follow in the Maynor family cemetery on N.C. 211 West, Lumberton.
She was born June 10, 1925, in Robeson County. She was the daughter of the late Jordan R. Maynor and Anna Maynor Wilkins.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, the Rev. Joseph Oxendine; and a son, Joseph Oxendine Jr.
She is survived by five daughters, Geraldine Chavis and husband James of Summerfield, Fla., Christine Griffin and husband Bobby of Lumberton, Mavis Chavis and husband Rural of Shannon, Hazel McNeill and husband L.H. of Lumberton, and Vernon (Yvonne) Collins and friend Jimmy Hunt of Lumberton; two sons, Ertle F. (Buck) Oxendine of Lumberton, and Larry Oxendine and wife Mary of Dunkirk, Md.; 22 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Revels Funeral Home in Lumberton.
