John Dial
PEMBROKE — John Phillip Dial, 53, of 1994 Whistling Rufus Road, was born May 6, 1959, in Robeson County and departed this life on Feb. 10, 2013, at UNC Hospitals of Chapel Hill.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Bear Swamp Baptist Church, the Revs. Dr. Timmy Chavis and Anthony Locklear officiating. Burial will follow in Bear Swamp Baptist Church Cemetery.
Dial was preceded in death by his father, Benford (Bethel) Dial.
Dial is survived by his wife, Joyce Dial of the home; his mother, Isabelle Maynor Dial of Pembroke; a son, Damacus Dial of Pembroke; a stepson, Jeremy Paul Sessoms of Pembroke; a stepdaughter, Shanna Lynn Locklear of Maxton; four brothers, Jerry Dial (Pauline) of Wagram; Nelson Dial (Suzette) of Maxton, Benford Dial Jr. (Debbie) of Rowland, and Cornelious Dial of Portland, Ore.; four sisters, Mirriam Locklear (Paul) of Wagram, Carolyn Smith (Bobby) of Rowland, Sylvia Chavis (Vinson) of Pembroke, and Lottie Ruth Chavis (Nelson) of Maxton; five grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
The visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Thompson’s Funeral Home.
