LUMBERTON — Clara Lee New Melvin, 80, of Lumberton, died March 12, 2013, in Cypress Grove Nursing Home in Newburgh, Ind.

A graveside service will be 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the Locklear family cemetery.

Melvin was born May 17, 1932.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin Franklin Melvin; a son, Alan Franklin Melvin of San Juan, Puerto Rico; a daughter, Deborah Ann Melvin; and a grandson, Jamie Curtis Melvin.

She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother and friend to all.

She is survived by three daughters, Helen Melvin (Scottie Locklear) of Lumberton, Peggy Rhinerson (Greg) of Booneville, Ind., and Heather Locklear of Lumberton; four sons, Johnny Micheal Melvin (Gail) of Lumberton, Charles David Melvin (Vicky) of Pembroke, Bo Melvin of Lumberton and Ricky Lee Melvin of Indiana; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday at Revels Funeral Home in Lumberton, and other times at the home of her daughter, Helen Melvin, 2906 Hedge Drive, Lumberton, N.C.
