WINSTON-SALEM — James Ivey, 84, passed away, March 15, 2013, at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Monday at Salem Funeral Home Chapel. A graveside services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hillside Cemetery in Laurinburg.

James was born in Robeson County on Aug. 27, 1928.

He was the son of John and Arrie Branch Ivey. He was employed at Merita Bakery in Winston-Salem until 1970 and later at Bahnsons until the late 1980s. He retired from United Engineering in 1990 and was a member of Century Park Baptist Church in Kernersville.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Velma Hunt Ivey; a brother, Fred Ivey; and a sister, Emma Jean Ivey.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Reid Ivey of the home; a daughter, Deborah Ivey Hobgood (Buddy) of Minneola, Fla.; a stepdaughter, Annette Byerly Sexton (Curt) of Trinity; two grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home.
