LUMBERTON — The registration deadlines for three horticultural events are nearing.

The Robeson County Farmers Market Annual Winter Meeting is scheduled for 6 to 8 p.m. Feb. 21 at O.P. Owens Agriculture Center, located at 455 Caton Road in Lumberton, according to the N.C. Cooperative Extension Robeson County Center.

All prospective vendors for the 2019 season are encouraged to attend. Market updates and yearly outlooks will be reviewed, such as Farmers Market Nutritional Program and food safety. A meal will be provided.

The registration deadline is Monday.

A Food Safety Modernization Act training workshop is scheduled for 6 to 8:30 p.m. Feb. 25 at O.P. Owens Agriculture Center. Participants will learn about the FSMA, the Produce Safety Rule, how the practices in the rule are relevant to small farms and how agricultural operations may be affected by the Produce Safety Rule.

Chip Simmons, Extension area specialized agent for food safety, will lead the discussion. A meal will be provided.

Feb. 21 is the registration deadline.

A Raised Bed Workshop is scheduled for 10 a.m. to noon March 2 at O.P. Owens Agriculture Center. This workshop will include a discussion on siting a location for a raised bed garden, media, crop selection, and disease and pest. Participants will be offered resources to take home.

The registration deadline is Feb. 27.
