LUMBERTON — Health-care professionals gathered recently to learn about seating options for patients.

The learning took place during Southeastern Home Medical Equipment’s first Education Expo, which was on June 7 at Southeastern Lifestyle Center for Rehabilitation in Lumberton. The event focused on custom power and manual wheelchairs, complex seating, and various other mobility related devices. The day included classes with speakers, demonstrations, and multiple displays by a variety of vendors.

“We held this event to get more awareness in our community about our complex mobility and seating program,” said Zachary Stamper, Southeastern Home Medical Equipment manager. “This program requires a team of passionate and knowledgeable professionals to assure the best outcomes for our clients.”

Thirty-eight clinical professionals attended the event and received continuing education credits for their commitment to learning more about serving our community through the complex seating and mobility program. The speakers discussed the different types of specialty seating available and numerous types of mobility devices, such as manual and power wheelchairs.

Vendors at the event included Sunrise Medical, KiMobility, Permobil/Comfort Co/Roho, Quantum Rehab, Pinnacle Mobility, McGinn and Associates, Ilderton Vans and VGM. The vendors had mobility devices on display and available for hands-on demonstration, as well as a wheelchair-accessible van.

Stamper said he hopes to hold a second event later this year.
