CHAPEL HILL — Rowland’s town manager, Oryan Lowry, has completed the University of North Carolina School of Government’s Municipal and County Administration course.

The municipal administration program is intended for managers, department heads and government officials “whose responsibilities require a broad understanding of function beyond individual areas of specialization,” according to a statement from the School of Government.

The course required about 150 hours of instruction and Lowry traveled weekly to Chapel Hill for about nine months to complete it, he said.

The course covers government law, management, finance and planning among other topics.

Lowry was one of 93 officials to graduate the course this year and more than 3,000 to complete it since its inception in 1954.
