ABERDEEN — A 33-year-old Red Springs man has been arrested and charged with the murder of a construction worker from Atlanta, according to Jim Foster, interim chief of the Aberdeen Police Department in Moore County.

Shelby Mitchell White, of 7114 Red Springs Road, was charged with first-degree murder after police found 26-year-old Mariell Bibiano with multiple gunshot wounds at the Country Hearth Inn and Suites Hotel at 1045 N. Sandhills Blvd. at about 10:25 p.m. Friday.

White is being held without bail at the Moore County jail.

Foster said White’s 41-year-old girlfriend, Amanda Gayle Gaboury, of 218 Pebble Lane in Raeford, is charged with accessory after the fact of murder. She was being held under a $50,000 secured bond.

“There was an altercation between Mr. White and some other individuals,” Foster said. “Whether Mr. Bibiano was one of those individuals is not known at this time.”

Foster said Bibiano was taken to FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

White, who fled on foot, was arrested close to the motel on U.S. 1 shortly afterward, Foster said.

“He was found in a restaurant parking lot, almost directly across the street from the Country Hearth Inn,” he said.

Foster said White does not have a criminal record that includes any felonies. White’s Red Springs address is in Hoke County.
