Robeson County Church and Community Center held its annual fundraising tournament on May 30, and raised nearly $7,000 for client assistance.

The team of Dr. William Harris, Marty Hunt, and Pete Maynor scored a combined 17-under-par 55 to beat 29 other teams and win a $300 prize. Perry Dudney, Stan Winberry and Brian Haymore took second, earning a $200 prize.

David Lowry Jr. won the prize for the mens longest drive on No. 4 and Pandora Carter had the longest women’s drive on No. 18. James R. Locklear won closest to the pin on No. 15.

Wayne Beasley and Bucky Beasley won the championship flight of Tuesday’s senior shootout and James Smith and Truman Lowery took second. Gene Brumbles and Jerry Jolly won the first flight, beating out J.D. Revels and John Lahey. Mike Tyson and John Rancke beat Marty Davenport and Jimmy Waddell for first place in the second flight.

Special event winners were Rod Nantz, Jimmy Stone, Wayne Beasley, Tommy Sipka and Mike Tyson. The next senior shootout is Tuesday at 9 a.m. Call the pro shop at 910-628-9931 for information and registration.

Cliffwood GC

Sally Locklear took first place in Cliffwood’s ladies league last week and Pandora Carter took second. Julie Fowlkes and Locklear both had chip-ins.

Winners of the Tuesday senior shootout were Herb Hedgepeth and Paul Stone Sr.

The course recently completed renovations on the greens on Nos. 7 and 12 and with the new greens comes a new day for the weekly senior shootout. The weekly tournament is being moved to Wednesday 10 a.m., which will include lunch. If the tournament gets 30 or more golfers, there will be a $50 prize.

The Foundation of Robeson County Community College will be holding its 30th annual Clifford Bullard Memorial Golf Tournament on Sept. 18 at Cliffwood.

The tournament supports the world of the RCC Foundation in its mission to provide financial support for the school’s students, activities and programs, especially as the need for scholarship assistance rises. The tournament raised more than $22,000 and the foundation expects a record-breaking event. Registration information will be announced at a later time.

Pinecrest CC

Pinecrest will be hosting the Royce McNeill Scholarship Tournament on July 25.

The four-person captain’s choice tournament will tee off at 9 a.m., following registration at 8:30. There is a fee of $240 per team, which includes cart and greens fees, a mulligan, lunch and gifts. Hole sponsorships are available for $100.
