Patterson — Tew

Paizley Marie Patterson of Lumberton and Sidney Gabriel Tew III of Wilmington were united in marriage at 6:30 p.m. on Aug. 24 at Legare Waring House. Gabe Tew officiated the wedding.

Patterson is the daughter of Ervin and Connie Patterson of Lumberton and the granddaughter of the late James and Juanita Risen, as well as the granddaughter of Josephine Patterson of Lumberton and the late Lawrence Patterson. She attended Dillon Christian School in Dillon, S.C,. and recently received a bachelor’s degree in Communications from the College of Charleston.

Tew is the son of Gabe and Sharlene Tew of Wilmington and the grandson of George and Nadine Wilson of Clinton and the late Jacklyn Smith Wilson, and Sidney Tew Sr. of Cary and Ginger Tew of Roseboro. He attended Lighthouse Academy in Wilmington and recently received a bachelor’s degree in English from The Citadel in Charleston, S.C. He is a midshipman in the Marine Corps, awaiting completion of Officer Candidate School as a second lieutenant.

The matron of honor was Katie Freel Smith of Dillon, S.C., and the maid of honor was Laura Johnson of Tolland, Conn. The bridesmaids were Caroline Lennon, Marian Carr, Emily Arp, Erin Kelly, Caroline Norris, Reagan Mann, Kristin Klee and Janna Tew. The honorary bridesmaids were Tomoka Iwashita, Kimberlee Tidswell and Cassie Palmacci.

Flowers girls were Lauren Cox, Emma Risen, Riley Patterson and Kirsten Risen, all of Lumberton.

The best man was Eric Donaldson of Houston. The groomsmen were Nate Tew, Jacob Tew and Luke Tew, Tyler Klee, Aaron Wilson, Jack Ditto, Mike Lewis, Wes Ballinger and Rhys Royal. The ring bearer was Kaleb Risen of Burlington.

The music was provided by Charleston Virtuosi Ensemble of Charleston, S.C., and DJ Josh of Charleston provided the music for the reception.

Lauren Miller of Café Catering in Charleston coordinated the wedding.

A wedding reception followed the ceremony at Legare Waring House.

A rehearsal dinner was hosted by the groom’s parents at the American Theater on King Street in Charleston.

The bride was honored with several showers and bridal events during her engagement, such as a Christmas shower hosted by the bridesmaids in Charleston in early January.

Also in January, a bridesmaid retreat was held at the Carr home in Debordieu Colony, near Georgetown, S.C., hosted by Marian Carr.

The bride enjoyed a household shower held at the bride’s home in Lumberton, hosted by Audrey Lewis, Sandra Mercer, Gypsy McKenzie, Rene Parnell and Carrie Risen.

A shower was held at the home of Rebecca Freel of Dillon, S.C., in July. The shower was hosted by Katie Freel Smith, Lydia Carr, Ellen Jordan and Rebecca Freel.

The ladies of Zion’s Tabernacle Baptist Church hosted a miscellaneous shower in July.

Emily Arp and Caroline Norris hosted a lingerie shower in August.

A bridesmaid’s breakfast was held at Peninsular Grill in Charleston on the morning of the wedding, hosted by the bride’s mother.

For their honeymoon, the couple went to Ocho Rios, Jamaica.

They will reside in Holden Beach.

Gaines — Waddell

Brittany Nicole Gaines and Joseph Harley Waddell were united in marriage at 3 p.m. on Sept. 7 at Chestnut St. United Methodist Church in Lumberton. The Rev. Steve Little officiated the wedding.

The bride is the daughter of Sue Gaines of Lumberton and Cleve and Mechelle Gaines of Raleigh. She is the granddaughter of Agnes Stanton and the late Wendell Stanton of Lumberton, William McKay and the late Nellie McKay of Ocean Isle Beach and the late Lindsey Gaines. She is a graduate of Lumberton Senior High School and received a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from The University of North Carolina at Pembroke. She works for BB&T as an analyst.

The groom is the son of Randy and Lisa Waddell of Lumberton. He is the grandson of the late Jack and Loretta Waddell and the late David and Joann Cooper. He is a graduate of Lumberton Senior High school and received a bachelor’s degree in information technology from The University of North Carolina at Pembroke. He works for Farmers Furniture.

The matron of honor was Tiffany McLellan of Orrum and the maid of honor was Amber Walker of Lumberton. The bridesmaids were Julie Lamb and Nikki Bissell. The juinor bridesmaids were Summer Hester, Emma Pope and Sophia Spangler.

The best man was Randy Waddell and the groomsmen were Sam Thompson, Brent Lamb and Chris Guy. The ring bearers were Jack Selph and Chase Steenhoek.

Music was provided by Jan Kennedy, organist; and Brandon Gaines, vocal soloist. Rhonda Lovin directed the wedding. Jenny Powers and Katie Floyd served as greeters.

A couples’ wedding shower was hosted by the bridesmaids at the home of Nikki Bissell.

A wedding shower was hosted by Ann Pittman, Cindy Warwick, Robby Pittman and Summer Hester at the home of Agnes Stanton.

Another wedding shower was hosted by Donna Davis at her home.

A bridesmaid brunch, hosted by Brandon Gaines and Ruth Ann McLellan, was given at McLellan’s home.

The rehearsal dinner was held at Candy Sue’s and was hosted by the groom’s parents. The reception, hosted by the bride’s mother, was also held at Candy Sue’s.

The couple honeymooned in Myrtle Beach S.C. and will reside in Lumberton.

Brewer — Norris

Linda Faye Brewer and Woodrow Norris Jr., both of Lumberton, were united in marriage on Sept. 21 at Clyborn Pines Church of God. The Rev. Richard Barnes officiated the wedding.

The bride is the daughter of Fronie B. Brayboy Brewer and Daniel James Brewer. She is the granddaughter of Marvin and Emma Brayboy. She attended Lumberton Senior High School and works for The Robesonian.

The groom is the son of Woodrow Sr. and Christine Norris. He is the grandson of Will and Gold Norris. He attended Lumberton Senior High School and works for Woody’s Plumbing and Repair.

The maid of honor was Elaine Smith and the bridesmaids were Crystal Norton, Sheila Locklear, Phyllis Graham, Jannie Chappell, Judy Smith and Jennifer Sanders.The flower girls were Savannah and Katlynn Norris.

The best man was Nathan Norris and the groomsmen were D.J. Brewer, Earl Brewer, Tommy Norton, Austine Locklear, Buddy Norris and Jhonathan Sanders. The ring bearer was Josiah Locklear.

Kimberly Norris provided the music.

The wedding was directed by Shelia Locklear and Elaine Smith.

A rehearsal dinner and a reception after the wedding ceremony was held at Clyborn Pines Church of God and was hosted by Sheila Locklear and Elaine Smith.
