LUMBERTON — Members of the Lumberton FFA, formally Future Farmers of America, ranked in multiple competitions in October and November.

On Oct. 10, members Kayla Allen, Zachary Grainger and Kelsey Robeson took first, second and third place, respectively, in Poultry Judging at the Robeson Regional Agricultural Fair. Members Paul Warwick and Marley Walters received first and second place, respectively, in truck and tractor driving.

The team’s fair booth placed second out of all FFA entries at the fair and third overall.

On Oct. 23, FFA members took first place in a land judging competition at the Lumber River Federation. Courtney Deviney, A.J. Smith and Bobby Bumgarner received first, second and third place, respectively, in the individual rankings.

On Oct. 28, FFA officers traveled to Louisville, Ky., where they received the National Chapter Award for the 13th consecutive year. FFA members Kelsey Robeson, Kayla Allen, A.J. Smith and Taylor Nance also competed in the National Quiz Bowl, where they took 18th place overall.

On Nov. 6 and 7, FFA members placed first in the region in the State Dairy Judging Competition. Members included Jamie Jackson, Brooke Taylor, Aaron Blackmon, Lacinda Prevatt and Torrie Brewington.

On Nov. 8 and 9, FFA members competed in the State Land Judging Competition. The senior team, comprising members Kayla Allen, A.J. Smith, Courtney Deviney and Bobby Bumgarner, ranked first in the nation and ninth in the region.

The junior team, comprising members Niraysha Irons, Destinee Williams, Blake Jones and Matthew West, ranked second in the region.

On Nov. 16, FFA members competed in the State Agronomy Competition, where they placed first in the region and second overall. Members included Caleb Kaukola, Lila Hunt, Tristan Petrie and Cara Woodman.

On Nov. 19, FFA members competed in the National 4-H Poultry Judging Competition in Louisville, Ky. Members included Kelsey Robeson, Kayla Allen, Kristen Barnes and Zachary Grainger.
