William Revels

LUMBERTON — William Earl Revels, of Lumberton, was born on June 29, 1943, and departed this life after a courageous battle on June 25, 2013, at Southeastern Hospice House in Lumberton.

A memorial will be 7 p.m. today at Revels Funeral Home Lumberton.

He was also a previous resident of Kingswood Nursing Center in Aberdeen.

Revels was preceded in death by his parents, Carson and Fannie Revels; three brothers, Robert Lee Revels, Hubert Ray Revels and Ralph Revels; two sisters, Lillie Mae Bullard and Odessa Hammonds; and a former son-in-law, Wilbert Lyn Chavis.

Revels leaves to cherish his memory a daughter, Lorrie Revels Lovin of Lumberton; a brother, Theodore Revels of Fayetteville; six grandchildren, Kayla Chavis, Jasmine Rogers, Jordan Rogers, Joshua Rogers, Steven Lovin, and Nicholas Lovin; two great-granddaughters, Amiya Clark and Bralei Jones; two former son-in-laws, Johnny Christopher Rogers and Steven Ray Lovin; and a host of special nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Earl was a loving father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a devoted construction worker for over 40 years.

The visitation with the family will be 6 p.m. today at Revels Funeral Home Lumberton. The family will also receive friends at the home of Mr. Revels’ niece, Connie Chavis, 6749 North Chicken Road, Lumberton, N.C.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Southeastern Hospice House, 1100 Pine Run Drive, Lumberton, N.C., 28358.
