LUMBERTON – Genevive Thomas Edens, 87, entered into eternal peace on Aug. 10, 2013, at Southeastern Hospice House after a short stay there.
A graveside service will be held to honor her life and will be officiated by Father John Gillespie. Soloist will be Ray Harries. The service will be 2 p.m. Monday at the Thomas family monument, Oak Grove Cemetery on Cemetery Road, Maxton, N.C.
She was a resident of Lumberton, originally from Red Springs, where she lived most of her life.
Edens was born in Rockingham, N.C., on Dec. 7, 1925, to Madeline Mansour Thomas and Samuel Thomas.
She was predeceased by her husband, Leighton Augustus Edens; her parents; and two sisters, Juliet May Thomas and Madeline Thomas Young.
Genevive is survived by her daughter, Wandre Edens Elkins and husband, Jerry Elkins of Lumberton; a grandson, Ryan Peyton Boone of Raleigh; a sister, Lorraine Elizabeth Thomas of Raleigh; a brother, Dr. Samuel Francis Thomas and wife, Barbara Dudley Thomas of Greensboro; and her nieces and nephews.
Immediately following the graveside service, the family will receive friends.
