Sponsors critical to Humane Society

First Posted: 6/29/2012

The Robeson County Humane Society has completed the ninth annual John P. Williamson Memorial Golf Tournament this spring. We are grateful to our volunteers who put on the tournament. We thank our loyal golfers, many of whom come back year after year to play. We especially thank our sponsors in all categories of giving. Though every one of you played a vital part, I want to particularly thank Bruce Mullis of BB&T, who has helped us every year by organizing golfers for the tournament. RCHS receives almost no public operational assistance except for an annual contribution from the city of Lumberton and from Robeson County. We are almost entirely dependant on the generosity of citizens who live both in and outside our community. Sadly, too many animals are killed each year at the government pound due to irresponsible pet owners who don’t spay and neuter their pets and because there are too few people willing to spare the lives of these dogs and cats by sharing their homes. Already have a dog? Get your dog a dog. He or she will be less lonely and you’ll have done a good thing. Visit our shelter at 3180 West Fifth Street in Lumberton or on our website at www.robesonhumanesociety.org; we’re also on facebook.

The sponsors listed are the many citizens and businesses, both inside and out of our community, who contributed to this year’s golf tournament. These donations enable RCHS to help more homeless animals at our Friends for Life shelter. Shelter Saint: Bowen and Berry, Attorneys. Cat’s Meow: Berkley, Chloe and Danny Thompson; Kathy Stach; Clay Hamilton/State Farm; George and Lynn Provosty. Doggie Delight: Cathy Bracey, Paul and Linda Thompson, Anonymous. Super Sponsors (golf team/hole sponsor): In memory of Abby Thompson, BBT, Lily, LouLou and Lola Kozej.
