Police Academy

applications sought

LUMBERTON — The Lumberton Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association is accepting applications for the Lumberton Citizens Police Academy.

Applications are available at the Lumberton Police Department and must be submitted by Sunday.

The academy, which introduces police work to the public, is free to all adults who live or work in Lumberton. Classes meet on Thursday evenings from Oct. 4 through Jan. 10.

Distracted driving

event set at RCC

LUMBERTON — Robeson Community College will host a distracted driving program Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the college’s campus at 5160 Fayetteville Road.

The event, part of the National Save A Life Tour, will feature video presentations, a casket display and two texting-and-driving simulation courses to show the dangers of driving while distracted.
