PEMBROKE — The state Department of Transportation has awarded a $5.1 million contract to resurface more than 37 miles of primary and secondary roads in Robeson County.
The contract was awarded to Hudson Paving Inc. of Rockingham. The work could begin as early as June 25 and be completed by May 31, 2013.
The contract includes improving 8.8 miles of U.S. 74 from Interstate 74 to Chicken Road near Pembroke and two miles of N.C. 83 from the South Carolina line to Morrison Road near Maxton.
In addition, several other primary and secondary roads in Robeson County will be resurfaced.
It is one of 30 contracts totaling $109.3 million recently awarded by DOT for highway and bridge projects across North Carolina.
