Mary Strickland, 76, of 2659 N.C. 710 N., was born March 6, 1936, and departed this life on June 23, 2012, at Duke University Medical Center in Durham.

A memorial will be held 3 p.m. Sunday at Revels Funeral Home Chapel in Pembroke, the Revs. Kelly K. Sanderson and Chris Locklear officiating.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her husband of 58 years, Stephen A. Strickland of the home; a daughter, Gwen (Bobby) Locklear of Raleigh; two sons, Mickey Strickland of the home and Perry (Myra) Strickland of Pembroke; a brother, Peter Saldana of Harsens Island, Mich.; six grandchildren, Phillip Collins, Talena Loy, Marc Locklear, Avery Strickland, Micheala Collins and Matthew Strickland; four great-grandchildren, Taylor Collins, O’Brian Collins, Addison Loy and Abby Grace Collins; nieces; nephews; two special friends, Mrs. Rita Oxendine and Mrs. Ethel Locklear; her K-9 buddy, Marley; and a host of relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Revels Funeral Home.

Jack Vick

Jack Hilburn Vick Sr., 68, of Pembroke, died June 20, 2012.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at First United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in the Lowry family cemetery on Oak Grove Church Road in Lumberton.

He was born in Charleston, S.C., on Jan. 3, 1944. He was the son of the late Ira Master and Vanessa Hilburn Vick.

Vick was a member of the First UMC in Pembroke.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Lailure Christina Vick; four brothers; and a sister.

Surviving are his wife, Judy Lowry Vick of the home; three sons, Jack H. Vick Jr. of Pembroke, and John Calhoun Vick and Ira Adam Vick, both of Charleston; a brother, Billy Vick of Murrells Inlet, S.C.; six sisters, Barbara Vick of Baskerville, S.C., Pearl Young and Shirley Prescott, both of Charleston, Annette Bebe of Gulf Breeze, Fla., Hazel Frick of Antioch, Calif., and Patsy Stephenson of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Revels Funeral Home in Pembroke.

Maxton

Bertha Mae Edwards, 91, of 246 Triska Drive, died June 19, 2012, at Southeastern Regional Medical Center.

The funeral will be 4 p.m. Sunday at Cherokee Chapel Holiness Methodist Church in Maxton, the Revs. Jimmy Locklear and Brian Jacobs officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Surviving are four daughters, Sylvia Burney of Maxton, Cathy Gillispie of Coupeville, Wash., Betty Weeks of Red Springs, and Donna Chavis of Pembroke; a sister, Thelma Bullard of Maxton; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

The visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Boles Funeral Home in Red Springs.
