Mattie Neil Oxendine, 75, of 10547 N.C. 711, traveled to her Heavenly home on Dec. 27, 2011.
The funeral will be held 2 p.m. Friday at Revels Funeral Home in Pembroke, the Revs. Willie Scott Jr. and Jimmy Strickland officiating. Burial will follow in Lumbee Memorial Gardens.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hilton and Elizabeth Scott; and siblings, Rabon Scott, Hilton Scott Jr., Evelyn Scott, and Wanda Scott.
She leaves to cherish her memories, a daughter, Robbie Neil Oxendine of the home; a son, Clint Oxendine of Pembroke; two brothers, Ertle B. Scott of Lumberton and Alton Scott of St. Pauls; three sisters, Katherine Jacobs and Genner Locklear, both of Rowland, and Geraline Oxendine of Lumberton; two grandsons, Brandon D. Oxendine and James Devon Hunt of the home; a great-grandson, Aadin Daris Locklear; and a host of relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends 7 to 9 tonight at Revels Funeral Home in Pembroke.
William Taylor Sr.
William Osborne Taylor Sr., 82, of 9408 N.C. 211 East, was born on Feb. 25, 2011, to the late Austin Jerry and Anza Parnell Taylor.
The funeral will be held 3 p.m. Friday at Antioch Baptist Church, 5089 Old Whiteville Road, Lumberton, officiated by the Revs. Charles Burst and Mark Meadows. Burial will follow in Floyd Memory Gardens on Old Whiteville Road in Lumberton.
He was married to the love of his life, Sarah Davis Taylor, on May 13, 1950.
Taylor was a member of Allenton Fire Department, leaving after many years of service. He was employed by Taylor Manufacturing Inc. Elizabethtown for nearly 20 years. He loved fishing and spent many days off the North Carolina coast fishing with his best friends.
He was preceded in death by his son, Richard Larry “Ricky” Taylor on Aug. 25, 2011; his parents, Austin J. and Anza P. Taylor; two brothers, Delbert C. and Austin Knox; his only sister, Avis Lee Harrell Jackson; and his in-laws Mr. and Mrs. I Roy Davis of Bladenboro.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Sarah Davis Taylor of the home; a daughter, Cynthia “Cindy” Taylor of the home; a son, William O. “Billy” Taylor of Claxton, Ga.; four grandchildren, Justin Taylor and wife Jessica, and Candace Taylor, all of Lumberton, Khyman Lee Taylor of Savannah, Ga., and Cameron Taylor of Lumberton; a special daughter-in-law, Lorie Taylor of Lumberton; a brother, G. Ewing Taylor of Red Springs; two sister-in-laws, Monique Taylor and Mary C. Taylor, both of Lumberton; three nephews; four nieces; and many more family and friends. He is also survived by a very special friend, Sue Hardin Bennett of Lumberton.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2:45 p.m. Friday at Antioch Baptist Church.
James H. Thornton, 72, of 7626 Red Springs Road, died Dec. 20, 2011, at Duke University Hospital.
A memorial will be 1 p.m. Friday at God’s Holy Tabernacle in Red Springs, Pastor Audrey Hall officiating.
Surviving are his wife, Phyllis Ford-Thornton of the home; and a sister, Frances Kelly.

Tyrone C. Bordeaux, 40, of 3360 Mautain Drive, died recently.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at First New Light Church in White Oak.
The visitation will be noon to 5 p.m. today at McKoy & Son’s Mortuary in St. Pauls.
Ella “Lib” Jenkins, 66, of Fayetteville, died Dec. 27, 2011, at Carrol S. Roberson Hospice Center in Fayetteville.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Friday at Saint Pauls Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. Herman Autry officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
Surviving are her husband, Lent Jenkins; a son, Ray Jenkins; her mother, Ella Lee Lockamy; a brother, J.D.Lockamy; and a grandchild.
The visitation will be 7 to 9 tonight at the funeral home.
