When I worked in the Robeson County School system, most of the children received free breakfast and lunch. I also saw how the children abused the fact that they were given free food. Most if not all went into the garbage can. We can’t make our students eat the food but if more parents were concerned about what Little Johnnie or Little Sue was doing with food more $$$ would be saved for other things the school may need. My son tried the food 1st day of Pre-K and came home that day and asked if I would make his lunches. I did this everyday thur the 8th grade. I knew he was getting a well balanced meal and it was something I knew he would eat.
