Frankie S. Thorndyke, 88, of Lumberton, died on March 6, 2012, at Southeastern Hospice House.
A service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Friday at Floyd Memorial Chapel. Burial will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Gardens of Faith Cemetery in Lumberton.
She was born in Richmond County on Aug. 17, 1923, to the late Frank Sutton and the late Bertha Norris Sutton. She previously worked in textiles as a spinner.
Along with her parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Mable Walters.
Thorndyke is survived by her husband of 70 years, J.F. Thorndyke of the home; three sons, James Thorndyke and special friend Anne Hughes of Little River, S.C., Sammy Thorndyke and wife Laura of Orrum and Donald Thorndyke and wife Frances of Lumberton; a daughter, Kathy Collins and husband Lenwood of Orrum; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and special friend, Dale Thorndyke.
The visitation will be Friday after the service at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory Inc., 809 E. Fifth St., in Lumberton and at other times at 925 Long Branch Drive, Lumberton.
