LUMBERTON — Two Lumberton police officers now have a chance to win a free car in United Way of Robeson County’s ninth annual fair share giveaway.
Stephen Jacobs and Peter Monteiro joined a growing group on Tuesday when their names were drawn at Peterson Toyota-Scion-Chrysler-Jeep-Dodge.
Shon Pevia, general manager at the dealership, pulled the names of the two finalists from the golden barrel.
“We really feel like being a part of this is a great opportunity,” Pevia said. “We’re blessed to be able to give something to the community we live in, work in, and serve in.”
Tuesdayw as week six of the 10-week event.
The next drawing will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday at Terry Chapin Nissan.
The winner will receive one of the following cars: a Chevrolet Spark from Lumberton Chevrolet-Buick-GMC-Cadillac; a Nissan Versa from Terry Chapin Nissan; a Ford Fiesta from Fair Bluff Ford; a Kia Soul from Lumberton Mazda-Kia; or a Toyota Yaris from Peterson Toyota-Scion-Chrysler-Jeep-Dodge.
“Giving back is a great thing, especially at this time of year,” Pevia said. “Hopefully we’ll have the winner this year.”
To become eligible to win a car, a person must contribute at least one hour’s pay a month to United Way. The car winner will be selected in a reverse drawing.
