LUMBERTON — Birmingham Children’s Theatre Company will present two shows of “City Mouse, Country Mouse” on Friday at the Carolina Civic Center Historic Theater.

There will be a 10 a.m. show for schools that also is open to the public, as well as a 7 p.m. show. Tickets are $5 for students and $10 for adults.

The show is about a mouse named Maudie Mae who thinks country life is mighty fine while her cousin, Montague, wouldn’t live anywhere except the big city. Their musical adventures begin when they decide to pay each other a visit. The two travelers discover new sights, new tastes and more new noises than they ever imagined on their way to proving there is no place like home.

According to the civic center, Birmingham Children’s Theatre is one of the country’s oldest and largest professional theater companies for young audiences. Established in 1947, the theater reaches more than 175,000 students annually and has touched the lives of more than 12 million students throughout its 65-year history. Each year, Birmingham Children’s Theater tours three or four productions across the country.

Tickets can be purchased in person or by telephone with credit card or cash from 1 to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays at the center, or by calling the 910-738-4339. Tickets can also be purchased at the door. Theater lobby box office opens for ticket sales one hour before the show begins.
