Library computers receive new system enhancements

The Robeson County Library System has just completed installing EnvisionWare time management and print release software on all our public access computers. The new system provides a number of enhancements that will improve our customers’ computer experience.

Each library customer using the computers will have up to two hours of computer access a day. Computer sessions run 60 minutes and the system will automatically offer you the opportunity to extend your session if there are no reservations waiting to access the computers. The software counts down the number of minutes you actually use so if you end your session early, you can log in again later in the day and your time will still be available. If the library is busy and every computer is in use, you can make a reservation for the next available computer.

For better service, all the library computers are now running Windows-based operating systems, have Microsoft Office installed and support Windows Explorer. This will eliminate problems of file format incompatibility and websites that did not operate correctly with the Mozilla browser. Invest in an inexpensive flash drive to save your important files for use on the library computers or any Windows compatible PC.

Thank you to the Friends of the Library whose financial support made it possible to implement these improvements. The Friends of the Library is a nonprofit that supports the library through the book sale, the annual fund-raising dinner, as well as membership dues and contributions. If you would like to be a Friend of the Library, let us know and we will get you more information.

Congratulations to longtime library staff member Nancy Barfield on her retirement. Thank you Nancy for your excellent service to the Lumberton branch and all the many people you have helped along the way. Nancy has always been someone who goes the extra mile for everyone and we will all miss her.
