LUMBERTON — Northeast Park, body cameras and utilities are among the items expected to be discussed during the Lumberton City Council’s two-day budget workshop this week.

The council on Monday and Tuesday will hold its annual workshop during which it considers what to factor into its budget for the upcoming fiscal year.

On Monday, the council is expected to hear from a representative from ElectriCities as well as a representative from NexGrid, the maker of a smart grid system designed to help city staff and utility customers better monitor usage.

Part of that day’s meeting will also be dedicated to Northeast Park and improvements to the Lumberton Municipal Airport.

On Tuesday, the council is expected to discuss conditional-use permits, security at City Hall and installing LED lighting. A representative from Watch Guard is scheduled to make a presentation on body cameras.

The council is also expected to discuss possible incentives for a new industry, but that will be done during closed session.

Each meeting will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at City Hall.
